Center for Nonprofit Resources
Has Been Transferred to Cascade SBDC
After sixteen years of actively serving the North State the Center for Nonprofit Resources, a program of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, is making a change.
We are pleased to announce that the Center for Nonprofit Resources program has been transferred to the Cascade Small Business Development Center at Shasta College as of July 2007. The Cascade SBDC, along with resources from the College, has been expanding services to nonprofit organizations for some time now and they have the technological capacity to take nonprofit services farther than would be possible with the Community Foundation. The Cascade SBDC will maintain the Center’s library and the Foundation Center database for grant research. They will also offer workshops in addition to the courses offered through the College’s Nonprofit Management Certificate program and online through their Community Education program. We feel the needs of the nonprofits in our region will be met sufficiently by the Cascade SBDC.
Over the years the Center has provided assistance to over 14,000 people through workshops, library and grant research services. Moreover, the Center has helped generate over $21 million in grant dollars for this region and the Center was integral in the development of the curriculum for the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program, which will be available through Shasta College in fall 2007.
“We are proud of the impact that we have made and yet we are witnessing a transformation in the field that changes the work we do. We are now in a new day and age for technology. The internet has significantly changed the way we access information and the way nonprofits do business. During that time this region’s nonprofit field has grown and developed into a significant and sophisticated business sector in our communities,” said Anderson. “The Community Foundation greatly looks forward to the success of the Center for Nonprofit Resources as a program of Cascade SBDC.”
One of the primary reasons for this transition is the incredible growth the Community Foundation is experiencing. The Board of Directors and staff saw the transition of the Center for Nonprofit Resources program as an opportunity to focus more on maintaining and building relationships with donors and to concentrate resources fully on the expanding state of philanthropy in Shasta and Siskiyou counties. The Community Foundation is still located at 1335 Arboretum Drive, Suite B in Redding; it is only the Center for Nonprofit Resources program that has transitioned to Cascade SBDC.
Cascade SBDC is located at 1420 Butte Street in Redding. For more information about the Cascade SBDC or the Center for Nonprofit Resources please contact (530)225-2770 or visit www.sbdcsc.org.
