Grant Opportunities and Deadlines
|
The Community Foundation currently makes
grants from individual scholarship funds
and donor-advised funds. With the exception
of scholarships, the foundation makes grants
to nonprofit organizations only, i.e., no
grants to individuals. The following
donor-advised funds make grants in response
to proposals submitted by nonprofit
organizations.
Please note: most grants
carry with them a requirement for reporting back to
the
Foundation regarding use of the funds. Reports of past
grants must be on file before an agency can apply for
additional Foundation funds. Applications recieved from
organizations with deliquent reports will be considered
non-responsive and will not be reviewed. |

| Arts for Community |
Shasta Regional Community Foundation believes arts play a key role in building our communities; reflecting and celebrating local culture. With this initiative, supported by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation, the Community Foundation is making funding available to support artists and arts organizations; to celebrate our cultural heritage, enrich our communities and encourage philanthropic support to local arts and artists.
The program is a 3-year initiative. This first year grants will be made for projects that build communities in one of the three following ways: 1. arts projects which engage the community in their execution or involve different segments of the community with each other in their production; projects which foster community. 2. creation of works of art which reflect a specific aspect of our local culture. 3. existing arts events or programs which engage broad cross-sections of the community. The purpose of this third category of grants will be to strengthen these event, to expand their scope, and support the development of realistic plans for sustainability. Maximum grant size will be $5,000. |

| Grants Advisory Board for Youth |
The Grant Advisory Boards for Youth (GABY) is a "youth-to-youth" philanthropy initiative where teenagers make actual grantmaking decisions in their communities. Its purpose is to offer Siskiyou County and Shasta County teens a meaningful experience in decision-making, promote civic participation and spread resources to local youth groups and youth serving organizations.
Over the course of the program the selected young people learn about grant making, the region in which they live, perform site visits and make final decisions - just like a traditional foundation would.
