Kathy Johnson, Chief Executive Officer

Kathy is the CEO and Board member for the Community Foundation. She is responsible for Foundation operations and working with donors to establish funds to serve the communities in Shasta and Siskiyou counties.

Kathy was born and raised in central Minnesota. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota and a Masters Degree in Management with a concentration in “Organized Philanthropy” from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.

Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Kathy served as the Executive Director of the Celebration Foundation in Celebration, Florida and as Vice President of the Northland Foundation in Duluth, Minnesota.

Most recently, Kathy operated a Hollister-based consulting firm that worked with individual donors, non-profit organizations and private corporations to carry out their strategic goals.

Kathy has provided leadership in creating numerous non-profit organizations and has significant experience working with private philanthropic endeavors, non-profit management, leadership programs, fund development and volunteerism.

Kerry Caranci, Senior Program and Operations Officer

As Senior Program and Operations Officer, Kerry serves as the director for the foundation grant programs; The McConnell Fund, Redding Rancheria Community Fund, Burney Regional Community Fund, The Women’s Fund and all other grantmaking efforts of the Community Foundation. Also, she is responsible for in coordinating the Foundation’s operations. Kerry serves as the foundation’s liaison to The Women’s Fund programs.

Kerry joined Shasta Regional Community Foundation in 2006 after briefly working at Simpson University in 2005. Prior to moving to Redding, she worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Kerry is a Leadership Redding graduate, a 2011 20 Under 40 Recipient and takes pride in her role in community philanthropy.

Kerry received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound, and she is also an alumnus of the Temple Rome study abroad program. Though an Oregon native, Kerry enjoys living in Redding with her husband Michael and son Mitchell. They enjoy fly fishing, bocce ball, spending time in beautiful places, and traveling the globe whenever they can.

Raiann Hodge, Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Raiann is responsible for fiscal oversight, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and accounting for Shasta Regional Community Foundation’s $13.5 million in assets.


Raiann joined Shasta Regional Community Foundation in 2006 as a consultant CPA with over 15 years in the non-profit sector contracting with various organizations throughout the north state community. In 2012 Raiann became an employee of the Foundation. She is a Leadership Redding graduate and feels very fortunate to be involved with the non profits and the philanthropy they provide to our community.


Raiann received her bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting from California State University, Chico and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant by the state of California. Raiann is a native to the north state and has lived with her family in Redding for over 20 years.

Jennifer Powell, Development & Program Officer

As Development and Program Officer, Jennifer is responsible for carrying out a broad spectrum of staff assignments that will help the Foundation grow its endowment. She will also be responsible for the Foundation’s scholarship programs, its Ivy B. Horr Medical Education Fund, Leadership Redding, Redding Affordable Housing Loan Fund, National Standards Confirmation as well as grant-making support.

Jennifer joined Shasta Regional Community Foundation in 2012 after working as a Financial Advisor. Jennifer’s prior experience includes working for 13 years in the nonprofit healthcare sector, including seven years as Senior Development Officer.

Jennifer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology from The Evergreen State College and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from University of California, Los Angeles. She has served on the Board of the Shasta Land Trust and is currently a member of Redding East Rotary, the North State Cancer League and Shasta County Search and Rescue Mounted Posse. Jennifer and her family enjoy the spectacular north state and its numerous outdoor recreational opportunities.

Jill Harris, Development & Communications Associate

As Development and Communications Associate, Jill is responsible for development and donor related programs that will strengthen and grow the Foundation's fund base. She is based in Siskiyou County. She is also responsible for the Foundation's Communications strategy including the Annual Report, website management, social media, e-newsletters and media relations.

Jill joined Shasta Regional Community Foundation in 2012 after working for the Siskiyou County Economic Development Council as a Program Manager. Jill's prior experience includes Executive Director of Yreka Chamber of Commerce. Jill is a graduate of the Ford Institute Leadership Program.

Jill received her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of California Davis. Jill is a member of the Rotary Club of Yreka, former board member and fund development chair for the Siskiyou Family YMCA and current President of Jefferson Mountain Bike Association. Jill lives in Yreka with her husband Chris and two daughters, Jayne and Nora. Though Jill grew up in Cottonwood, she loves living in Siskiyou County and spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors.

Leigh Baranek, Administrative Assistant/Office Manager

As the Administrative Assistant/Office Manager, Leigh provides a positive and professional response to the public in all internal and external office communications. She also provides necessary clerical support to staff and accounting support to the Chief Financial Officer.

Leigh was born in the small town of Angola, Indiana. She moved to Sacramento, California in 1986. Leigh returned to Indiana in 1995 and remained there until 2012 when she decided to move to Redding with her daughter Lilli, age 7.

Leigh joined the SRCF staff in December 2012. Prior to moving to Redding, Leigh worked for Hoosier Propane (now Suburban Propane) as Accounting Assistant January 2000-June 2012.

Leigh has an Associates Degree in Business Administration from International Business College in Fort Wayne, IN. Leigh loves taking advantage of the north state's beautiful terrain, camping, hiking as well as trips to the coast.
