Carla Jo Bloxham, of Palo Cedro, passed away peacefully and comfortably in Redding after a brief illness. She was 68.

She was born the youngest of three children in Waterloo, Iowa, to James and Patricia Bloxham. In 1955, the family moved to Arcata, CA when she was 7 years old. She graduated from Arcata High in 1966 and attended College of the Redwoods, before venturing on her own to Redding in the mid 70's.

Carla was a self-made business woman, skills she learned from her father while working at his gas station in Arcata. She owned a janitorial service in Anderson and worked in advertising and sales for the Record Searchlight newspaper. While there, she recognized an opportunity to manufacture and sell axles. Carla opened California Mobile Tire and Axle in Redding; in 1980, she opened California Trailer and RV, where she was president and oversaw operations until her death. She made it her goal to get her customers on the road, happy and comfy for the past 37 years!

Carla also loved a great meal and was passionate about History. That led to owning and operating Big Wheel's Restaurant in Shingletown for a few years. She worked hard in every endeavor she took on, and there were many.

Carla loved buying, trading and collecting antiques. It was not only a hobby, but a passion. Her other passion was her love of animals and nature.

She had quite a sense of humor and there were always a lot of stories and laughter if she was in the room. She wasn't one to sit quietly in a corner!

She was a most caring soul. She would do anything for anyone. Carla always thought of others before herself. She liked to take care of people. She had a brave spirit and touched so many lives. Carla will be long remembered and deeply, deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James (Jimmy) Bloxham.

Carla is survived by her brother Dennis Bloxham (Sandy), nieces Teresa Bloxham, Tina Bloxham, Carolyn Bloxham, Elizabeth Bloxham, Heidi Jurak; nephew Doug Henkle and several great nieces and nephews.

This fund, in memory of Carla Jo Bloxham, will benefit and support the following organizations: One SAFE Place, Northern Valley Catholic Social Service/Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children and Haven Humane Society.

Her compassion and giving spirit will live on through these gifts to organizations close to her heart.
