Community Foundation Announces New Grant Opportunity in Shasta CountyShasta Regional Community Foundation is excited to announce a new partnership with Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency and the creation of a new grant opportunity for Shasta County nonprofits. This new grant opportunity (the ACEs Resilience and Hope Fund of Shasta County) seeks to fund programs that help mitigate or prevent the generational cycle of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This grant program promotes preventative and innovative strategies to improve health by addressing one or more of the 10 identified ACEs for a more resilient and hopeful Shasta County community.
“Local data shows that Shasta County ACEs are double the state average with nearly 40% of the adults surveyed in Shasta County reporting 4 or more ACEs,” says Brandy Isola, Public Health Branch Director of the Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency. She adds, “We are working hard to reduce that number and we believe a partnership like this provides support to community programs that will not only prevent ACEs but strengthen the fiber of our community.”
The Community Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Kerry Caranci states, “We are excited about this new grant opportunity as we collectively dig deeper into the work of preventing and reducing the impact of ACEs for the long-lasting health and economic benefits to our entire area.”
As reflected on the Community Foundation’s website at www.shastarcf.org/grants, projects must exclusively target Shasta County residents. Grants shall only be awarded to nonprofit organizations with tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or Public agencies serving the intended Shasta County residents.
The online application and instructions are posted on the website at www.shastarcf.org/grants, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on February 19, 2020.
